History

1992 — The oldest daughter An Van Remoortel and son-in-law Kris Thielman also joined the business. The demand for fresh French fries without preservatives continued to grow and a first expansion was required.

1996 —Machinery was bought for the production of peeled potatoes for industrial kitchens.

2000 — Daughter Els Van Remoortel and son-in-law Wim Lannoey also joined the business.

2001 — Construction of a new production site in the SME industrial area Aven Ackers in Verrebroek.

2001 — Construction of the first biogas installation, which generates electricity from potato peels; a unique and innovative procedure at the time.

2001 — Thanks to the environmental efforts Jozef Van Remoortel became "self-employed entrepreneur of the year 2001 for the Waasland region”.

2002 — Inauguration of the new plant and the biogas installation by the Flemish minister of Energy, Steve Stevaert.

2002 — Due to his efforts for environmentally-friendliness, food safety and hygiene Jozef Van Remoortel was given the "Award of the Flemish Government" for most deserving entrepreneur of Flanders.

2003 — Remo obtained the BRC certificate - level A (food safety quality care system) for the first time.

2006 —Construction of a second production site in the SME industrial area Aven Ackers in Verrebroek for the production of fresh, peeled and pre-cooked potato products, mainly for industrial kitchens and the food industry.

2008 —As a reward for the many environmental efforts made by the company Remo is given the title of "Kyoto Ambassador".

2014, April  — Remo exists 25 years and celebrates with a big event.

2014, April — Jozef and Frieda decide to hand over the management of the company to the next generation

2014, Augustus  Kris Thielman beslist het bedrijf in goede verstandhouding te verlaten. De familie Van Remoortel wenst Kris alle succes toe. Kris Thielman leaves Remo in good understanding. The Van Remoortel family wishes Kris all the luck for the future.
